Welcome to the county's "Record Room," a
favorite hangout for real estate lawyers, title searchers,
and genealogists.
Here you'll find records of deeds and liens on property. Some specific
items you'll find:
- Duplicate copies of real estate records
- Information on delinquent real estate sold to individuals
(but not to the state)
- Indexes to deeds beginning in 1798. (Before that, check Harrison
County (WV) or Richmond (VA).
- Recorded subdivisions and individual surveys that are recorded
(not all individual surveys are recorded).
You also can look up the current owner of real estate. To do that,
we need:
- The owner's name, or
- If it's inside the city limits, the street address. If it's
outside city limits, the address alone isn't enough.
If you need a copy, it's $1.50 for the first two pages, and
$1 for each additional page.
We're open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday,
and we look forward to helping you. Stop by the Record Room on
the first floor or call us at (304) 424-1870.
